Abbreviations - U.K Terms

Ch - Chain

Dc - Double crochet

Tr - Treble crochet

St - Stitch

Sun Face

Work in continuous rounds using a stitch marker to keep track.

The circle may look a little hexagonal as it gets bigger but when you construct the plushie it’ll be rounder.

Using Citroen.

Ch 2,

  1. 6dc in 2nd ch from hook

  2. 2dc in each st. (12dc)

  3. 1dc in first st, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (18dc)

  4. 1dc in the next 2 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (24dc)

  5. 1 dc in the next 3 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (30 dc)

  6. 1 dc in the next 4 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (36 dc)

  7. 1 dc in the next 5 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (42 dc)

  8. 1 dc in the next 6 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (48 dc)

  9. 1 dc in the next 7 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (54 dc)

  10. 1 dc in the next 8 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (60 dc)

  11. 1 dc in the next 9 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (66 dc)

  12. 1 dc in the next 10 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (72 dc)

  13. 1 dc in the next 11 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (78 dc)

  14. 1 dc in the next 12 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (84 dc)

  15. 1 dc in the next 13 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (90 dc)

  16. 1 dc in the next 14 sts, 2dc in the following st. 6 times (96 dc)

17 - 21. 1 dc in each stitch.

The circle will start to curl now but that's good as it gives the plushie squeezability.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make another sun face but do not fasten off. Leave to one side to work on later.

Eyes - Make 2

Using White.

For the eyes you will continue to work in the round but you need to join to the first dc and chain 1. Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Ch 2

  1. 6dc in 2nd chain from hook. Join to the first dc, ch 1.

  2. 2 dc in each stitch. Join to the first dc, ch 1.

  3. 1 dc in the first st, 2 dc in the following st. (6 times) Join to the first dc, ch 1. (18 dc)

  4. 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 2dc in the following st. ( 6 times) Join to the first dc, ch 1. (24 dc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Pupils

Using Black

Work the pupils as the eyes up to round 2.

Assembly

  1. Sew the pupils to the white of the eyes.

2. Sew the eyes to the first sun face.

3. Place the 2 sun faces wrong side together and use the unfastened sun face to attach together with a double crochet stitch.

Make sure to stuff the plushie before completely attaching the 2 sun faces.

Sun Rays

Using Saffron

Join to any stitch

  1. Ch 1, dc in the same stitch, skip the next stitch, 3 tr in the following stitch. (24 times) Join to the first dc.

(24 dc , 72 tr )

Fasten off and weave in ends

Sunrays 2

Using Sunshine. Join to any dc from round 1. Ch 2 does not count as stitch.

  1. 5 tr in the same stitch, skip 2 sts and dc in the middle tr of the sunray cluster. (24 times) Join to the first dc.

(120 tr, 24 dc)

Fasten off and weave in ends

Sunrays 3

Using Saffron. Repeat the pattern for sunrays 2.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

And there we have the sun plushie! I hope you have enjoyed making it.
